Comprised of five main components, youth lessons teach personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports and games, as well as rescue skills. Each level builds on the preceding level with six levels of 40 minute lessons held in the big pool covering all the strokes and safety skills with a class limit of 8.
POLLIWOG: Swimmers begin to work on front/back glide, flutter kick, rhythmic breathing and front/back crawl. GUPPY: Front crawl is perfected. Swimmers learn elementary backstroke, dives, begin to tread water and do deep water bobs. MINNOW: Continued work on front/back crawl. Beginning work on endurance, learning breaststroke and turns are emphasized. FISH: Swimmers learn sidestroke, dolphin kick and work more on turns. This level emphasizes endurance and stroke techniques. FLYING FISH/SHARK: Continued work on stroke technique and endurance. Butterfly stroke is introduced. Swimmers also learn pike and tuck surface dives. Swimmers also get an introduction to lifesaving.
