CARDIO CHISEL

This energetic body sculpting class includes intense cardio combinations followed with strength and resistance training for a full body workout. Step, resistance bands, exercise balls and free weights are incorporated into this challenging program designed to leave you feeling stronger and full of energy. Guaranteed to make you sweat! Recommended for all fitness levels.

BUTTS & GUTS
T/TH 5:25-6:25 AM
A total body, low impact "burn." Strengthen tone, shape and condition your body without extreme aerobics or dancing. Challenge yourself using the stability ball, weights, and some floor work. This class is instructed to meet the needs of all levels, focusing on arms, abs, butts, and thighs.

N.Y.A.C. (NOT YOUR AVERAGE CLASS)

This class intergrates all forms of training: flexibility, core, cardio, balance, plyometircs, speed, agility and resistance training. Every session is different and utilizes many aspects of the facility. By doing so you will continually challenge your body and receive optimal results.

DIG DEEPER

This class is intense! It will challenge and transform individuals willing to push themselves and DIG DEEPER! High intensity interval training is fused with butts and guts toning moves, pushing your body to maximize results. This class is designed to get your heart rate up with high intensity interval training followed by intense muscle burning moves...repeat. Expect to sweat and be pushed to optimize the best in you.

INTERVAL BURN

This class is a great total body workout. Using increments of energy bursts followed by increments of burn, working abs, arms, legs and butt.

TONE IT UP

This class mixes intervals of toning with weights and bands, complemented with segments of cardio and abdominal work to give you multiple options for the beginner to the experienced exerciser so you can choose what is right for you.

TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING

This class gives you a great warm up with a slightly different format each time to prevent boredom followed by a variety of total body toning primarily using discs, bands and weights.

ON THE BALL PILATES

This class incorporates basic pilates mat work with pilates based toning exercises on the ball. You will leave feeling strong and toned with a focus on your abs, back and glutes. Its also a great class to help with posture and balance.

A combination of our popular Cardio Step and Cardio Kick formats all packed into one high energy class. This class combines everything you love about step aerobics with your favorite cardio kick boxing moves and is set to great high-energy music.

SWEAT EXPRESS

A moderate to high intensity workout that is suitable for all fitness levels. Cardio utilizing the steps with a combination of free weights, resistance bands and exercise balls to strengthen and tone all your muscle groups.

Want a little variety in your workout? Come see what is available at the Y. Each Saturday a different instructor will teach their class to put a little more variety into your workout. BOOT CAMP

In this stamina boosting class, you will never get bored! This class offers a variety of cardio and strength exercises; jumping rope, military fitness drills, track speed and resistance training, and plyometrics(speed/strength training drills). Topping off the exercise spectrum, you will use free weights, exercise bands and perform calisthenics(pushups, lunges, squats) for a total body workout!

SILVER SNEAKERS

The Silver Sneakers class offers multi-level equipment based strength and conditioning exercises designed for active older adult members. The class is easy on your joints and appropriate for individuals who exercise regularly as well as those new to exercise or who may not have exercised in years. The exercises are designed to improve your strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. Plus, you will enjoy the great music and comaraderie of your fellow participants. In addition, any Y member can particpate in these programs regardless of age or membership type, guaranteeing you the opportunity to make new friends.

 

Fitness in Port Edwards

FLAT ABS CORE CLASS

In this class, you will increase your strength and balance while toning your abdominals, glutes, and back muscles all at the same time. By building core strength, you will be able to sculpt your body, shrink your waistline, improve your posture, and stabilize your spine. You will learn how to effectively strengthen your core using proper form and technique. All you need to bring is yourself; equipment will be provided.

Try this great step warm up with different upper/lower body and abdominal combinations to help you reach all of your goals. Its a great total body workout in just 50 minutes.

This new workout harnesses the way your body naturally moves to improve your athletic performance. A complete system using your body for suspension training to build a strong core, strength, flexibility and endurance. You will work in all three planes of motion allowing you to strengthen muscles and joints as a group avoiding muscular imbalances making the moves more effective, realistic and challenging. You can take your performance to the next level or choose the modified movements for beginners and/or members with limitations or restrictions.

Motivation and accountability are at the core of personal training.  Our Fitness Coaches will stand beside you at every physical challenge, encouraging you to try your hardest and keeping you on track.  Through personal attention and expert advice, a trainer designs a progressive plan to help you achieve maximum results and avoid injury.

Non-members receive FREE use of the Wellness Center during the program. Better yet, if you join within 30 days after your program, we'll waive your joiners fee!

Fee must either be paid in full, or the first month's payment along with forms completed for monthly deduction of $60 from a checking, savings, or credit card for the remaining months

Wellness Center

Both locations are equipped with state-of-the-art Wellness Centers. It's a great place for young (11 and older) and young-at-heart to begin practicing a healthy lifestyle. Our Wellness Centers include 24 pieces of cardiovascular equipment each with their own television, a STRIVE strength selectorized circuit, Cybex and Matrix free weights, and audio system. Both Wellness Centers have an inviting atmosphere, are spaced appropriately and have good lighting.

WELLNESS CENTER ORIENTATIONS
The Wellness Centers are open to members age 11 and older who have completed the mandatory orientation. We offer several different orientation times. A Wellness Center orientation will introduce you to each piece of the STRIVE Circuit, review our cardio sign-in system and guidelines for cleaning equipment. Our Youth Wellness Center orientation entails a comprehensive overview of how all of our cardiovascular equipment works, as well as safe and proper use of all equipment. We believe that the more you know about the Y fitness centers, the more likely you are to enjoy your exercise experience.

NEW! STAY FIT TOGETHER
The YMCA Youth Fitness Guidelines promote a safe and positive environment for all members. Youth ages 11 and older are now able to use the Wellness Center anytime using the following guidelines:

  • Youth ages 11-12 can use the cardiovascular equipment and selectorized strength training equipment (no free weights). Only if accompained by a parent/guardian, and after completing a Youth orientation, signing a consent form and wearing a colored wristband.
  • Youth ages 13-14 can use the entire Wellness Center anytime only after completing a Youth oreintation and wearing a colored wristband.

Personal Training

A results-driven one-on-one training program
Through one-on-one sessions, our ACE Certified personal trainers will assess your fitness level/abilities and develop a plan focused on achieving challenging, but realistic goals. The result: an exercise program specific to your needs, health status, limitations and personal goals.

  • Receive proper exercise techniques and progressive instruction and avoid common mistakes and exercise related injuries
  • Learn innovative training techniques to enhance health, fitness and prevent exercise monotony
  • Receive positive encouragement, motivation and accountability
  • Improved mental outlook, more energy and self-confidence

  • Sport-specific training and conditioning

1.  Stop by our Member Services desk to obtain a personal training questionnaire.
2.  Complete the questionnaire when you purchase your package and return it to the Member       Services desk.
3.  Our ACE Certified personal trainer will call to set up an initial consultation.

The Perfect Start Training System

Family Workout Times

The Y has always been a place where families can play and be active together, and that's more important than ever.  Live healthier and make memories for a lifetime by setting aside time for the entire family to exercise together.  At our Port Edwards location, kids age 10 and up can workout with their parents in the Personal Fitness Program Room or in the Healthy Beginnings area at the Wisconsin Rapids branch.

This is not your average boot camp class.  With our non-conventional training methods we will take boot camp to the great outdoors and use fun and non-traditinal training.  Partner assisted exercises and speed intervals push you to your max and help you achieve the results you haven't been able to get with your traditional training plan.  Sign up now as space is limited to the first 12 registrants!

Silver Sneakers is a fantastic opportunity for active older adults, to take greater control of their health by taking advantage of a membership offered through their insurance company. You can get a Y membership at no cost and access to signature Silver Sneaker classes. Your Silver Sneaker membership to the Y will unlock doors to fitness classes, pools, weight rooms, social events and more. It's easy to do, just bring your Medicare card and insurance card to either branch to get started. This program is offered to Medicare-eligible members of sponsoring health plans like Humana Gold Choice.
